Golf Industry Asia (GIA) is excited to announce an exciting corporate partnership with Australian-based SHANX Mini Golf. This is the first of their new partnerships to support the growth of the Asian Golf industry network.
SHANX Mini Golf, who produce some of the best mini golf course business offerings, currently has five Australian facilities in operation - two in South Australia, one in New South Wales, one in Victoria and one in Queensland. They have also delivered a bespoke course for Greg Norman Golf Design at Pelican Waters Golf Club in Queensland. Plus, plenty more on the way over the next three years across Australia and New Zealand.
SHANX Mini Golf, Managing Director, Peter Vlahandreas, said, “We have long been advocates of innovation and change within the golf industry and now with SHANX Mini Golf we have an opportunity to deliver our messages and deliver that change.”
“SHANX was born from a need to be different, do different, and achieve new outcomes in our industry. “
“We see the Golf Industry Asia platform as a great way for us to enter the Asian Golf market by working together to grow both of our brands”, says Mr Vlahandreas.
“Peter has been a great supporter and innovator in the Australian/New Zealand market over the past several years. He was one of the first to congratulate us when we launched Golf Industry Asia a few months ago, and he didn’t hesitate to jump on board to join us in 2025, says Mike Orloff Co-Founder of GIA.
SHANX Mini Golf was highlighted as the only mini-golf course company in the R&A Golf for Smaller Spaces Guide, released in 2024.
Martin Slumbers, CEO of The R&A, said: “We have seen that shorter formats of golf are key to introducing new participants to the sport but are also popular with traditional golfers.
“The Golf for Smaller Spaces guide has been written by experts in course architecture as a blueprint as to how courses can be developed and succeed in a non-traditional size and environment.
Facilities that utilise smaller parcels of land in cities and urban areas will play an important role in making golf more accessible to a wider range of people and increasing participation in the future.
SHANX Mini Golf offers hand-built miniaturised golf courses requiring an area of land between 700 and 5,000 square metres. Courses typically have two pins per hole allowing for a variety of play as well as varying skill levels. Multiple pins also allow flexibility in layout with options to create a composite course.
SHANX offers a comprehensive suite of services for those looking to develop and operate a premium mini golf facility. With a team boasting over 85 years of combined experience in the Global Golf Industry, SHANX provides expert guidance throughout the entire process, from initial feasibility studies to ongoing management.
Our services encompass feasibility studies, site assessment and procurement, concept design, construction, management, and landscape designs. SHANX’s approach is tailored to each client’s needs, focusing on maximizing efficiency, minimizing costs, and ensuring long-term success. Whether you’re considering a small 9-hole course or an expansive 36-hole facility, SHANX’s team of professionals is equipped to turn your mini golf vision into a reality.

PGA of America and PGA of Australia Member Mike Orloff has joined forces with PGA of Great Britain and Ireland and China/Hong Kong Professional Golfers’ Association Member Sean Plunkett to launch the new platform.
Mike is based in Queensland, Australia, and founded Golf Industry Central in 2008 with a focus on the Australia/New Zealand markets. Sean is based in Hong Kong as an executive search advisor for Global Talent Solutions with a strong focus on the Asian market.
“There is a major gap in this type of golf industry B2B information for the Asian market,” said Mike. Sean and I will help better connect the Asian golf industry by sharing news, jobs, events, and other relevant information. The industry has some great stories, and we’d love to help tell them.”
“Sharing knowledge and connecting our industry has always been a foundational part of my businesses. Getting to know Sean over the past year opened up the idea of expanding a web presence in the 48-country-strong Asian golf industry,” says Mike.
Sean and Mike have both traveled, worked, and presented extensively throughout Asia and developed a strong network of industry colleagues.
Sean said this is the next logical step to bring the industry closer together.
“Before I made my move to Asia, it was incredibly hard and rare to find opportunities without a platform that covers the region, and I didn’t know who I could reach out to for help.
“Mike and I are proud to be able to offer such a platform to connect golf industry professionals from around the world in one place for the Asia region,” Sean said.
“I’ve had the good fortune of visiting many amazing clubs across Asia and meeting some inspiring people in the industry. One of my goals with Golf Industry Asia is to be able to provide a platform to showcase the clubs in the region, its friendly professionals and its amazing cultures.”
