The city of Aqaba is preparing to host the 34th Jordan Open Golf Championship at the award-winning Ayla Golf Club from September 2–4, 2025. The tournament, held under the supervision of the Arab Golf Federation, will feature leading Arab and international players and is set to be a landmark event on the regional golf calendar.
This year’s championship carries added weight as an official stop on the Arab Golf Series (AGS), sanctioned by the Arab Golf Federation. The AGS provides Arab players with valuable ranking points within the new Arab ranking system, creating clearer pathways to qualify for international professional tournaments.
“The Arab Golf Federation remains committed to strengthening the game’s presence across the region,” a spokesperson said. “The Jordan Open reflects our vision to foster elite competition, develop emerging talent, and create more opportunities for Arab golfers to compete at the highest level.”
The 2025 Jordan Open exemplifies collaboration between the Arab Golf Federation and national federations, offering a platform that blends professional and amateur participation, while enhancing Arab representation in international golf.
The Arab Golf Series 2025 began with the Qatar Open in February, followed by the Cedars Golf Championship in Lebanon, and the Pan Arab Junior and Ladies Championship in Cairo. The calendar continues with the Jordan Open, the Morocco Elite Tour in Tangier, and October’s Bahrain Amateur Open, before moving on to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, with the season concluding at the UAE Cup and Tunisia Open (TBC).
Locally, the Jordan Open is being staged through a partnership between the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and Ayla Golf Club, with support from the Jordan Olympic Committee and the Jordan Golf Federation. Organizers are finalizing preparations to ensure the venue meets the highest international standards, with world-class hospitality, media engagement, and promotional campaigns already in place. Meanwhile, the Jordanian national team is undergoing targeted training programs to maximize performance at their home championship.
As one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in the Middle East, the Jordan Open is included in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and continues to play an important role in positioning Aqaba as a premier sports and tourism destination.
Beyond competition, the championship also represents a cultural and sporting bridge between Arab nations, reinforcing the region’s growing presence on the global golfing stage.
