Laguna Golf Lăng Cô Elevates Course Excellence with Key Leadership Appointment

29 August, 2025

Laguna Golf Lăng Cô, the celebrated Sir Nick Faldo Signature course, is taking its commitment to world-class golf and sustainable community support to new heights. The acclaimed club, nestled between the majestic Truong Son mountains and the azure waters of the East Sea, is proud to announce the appointment of Jason Blacka as its new Director of Agronomy – Course Maintenance. This key hire and renewed focus on agronomy come as the club prepares to host the highly anticipated 2025 Cobra Puma Charity Pro-Am, an event poised to make a significant impact on two vital Vietnamese charities.

With a distinguished career spanning Vietnam, China, and the United States, Jason Blacka brings a wealth of international expertise to his new role. His impressive resume includes leading turf and agronomy operations at high-profile venues like Hidden Tiger Golf Club, Cimarron Hills G&CC, and Legend Hill Golf Resort.

Blacka’s reputation for adaptability and technical skill has enabled him to consistently deliver exceptional results in diverse and challenging environments. Most recently, his work with Witgang Far East and OUTFIELD Nursery Enterprises involved managing multiple grow-ins and providing strategic turf consultation across Southeast Asia.

Blacka’s leadership is already yielding impressive results at Laguna Golf Lăng Cô. He and his team are actively re-establishing putting surfaces and expanding the club’s turf nurseries as they transition back to a more resilient Zoysia matrella grass. “We’re also implementing enhanced staff training and customized agronomic practices to maintain optimal turf health and playability year-round,” said Blacka. These initiatives are part of a broader, sustained effort to elevate the course’s conditioning, aesthetics, and commitment to environmental stewardship, hallmarks of the Laguna Golf Lăng Cô experience.

This dedication to sustainability is famously demonstrated by the club’s use of water buffalo as “bio-mowers” to maintain the scenic rice paddies that meander through the course. A new shelter is currently under construction to provide these beloved animals with protection during Vietnam’s stormy season, further cementing the club’s reputation for innovative and compassionate ecosystem management.

Laguna Golf Lăng Cô continues to set the standard for golf in Asia, blending a premier playing experience with an unwavering commitment to both environmental responsibility and social good.
