The Philippines Tees Off on New Tourism Era with "Philippine Golf Experience"

2 September, 2025

In a significant move to brand the country as a premier golf destination, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has officially launched the Philippine Golf Experience, an ambitious initiative designed to attract international and domestic golf tourists. The program was unveiled on August 29, 2025, at the world-class Mimosa Plus Golf Course, with Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco leading the ceremonial tee-off.

The launch, attended by ambassadors and senior officials from key countries including Japan, Malaysia, the UAE, New Zealand, Thailand, and Vietnam, signals a strong global interest in the Philippines' growing golf tourism sector. With its more than 100 courses set against diverse and stunning backdrops, the Philippines is poised to compete with established regional golf powerhouses.

"We are showcasing golf as a core part of our tourism strategy, not just as a sport, but as a cultural and economic driver that creates jobs and attracts investments," said Secretary Frasco. "The Philippine Golf Experience is about highlighting our world-class facilities and the unique Filipino hospitality that will set us apart as a top-tier destination."

Clark, with its international airport and modern infrastructure, was spotlighted as the ideal gateway for this initiative. The Mimosa Plus Golf Course, a prime example of the country's high-quality offerings, hosted the event, which brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from government, the private sector, and various golf associations.

Key figures from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham), and other government agencies demonstrated their commitment to the initiative's success. This strong public-private partnership is crucial to the program's goal of building a sustainable and inclusive tourism ecosystem.

The Philippine Golf Experience is set to be a cornerstone of the nation’s tourism strategy, aiming to boost local economies and provide new opportunities for job creation in hospitality, infrastructure, and other related sectors. The DOT's bold step reflects a forward-thinking approach to leveraging the country's unique strengths and vibrant culture to attract a new wave of global visitors.
