Schwab Backs Prestigious Singapore Island Country Club Junior Golf Tournament

23 September, 2025

The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) announced a new sponsorship agreement with Charles Schwab Singapore today, securing the financial firm as a key partner for the 31st SICC Junior Invitational Golf Championship (JIGC). The signing ceremony, held Friday, September 19, 2025, solidifies a significant boost for one of Asia-Pacific's most esteemed junior golf events.

A Global Partner with a Local Focus

Charles Schwab's involvement is a major win for the tournament, now in its 31st year. Scheduled to run from December 16 to 18, 2025, at the SICC's historic Bukit Course, the championship draws over 100 top youth golfers from across the region. With the new sponsorship, organizers say this year's event will offer an "enhanced tournament experience," helping young golfers compete and prepare for the highest levels of the sport.

Charles Schwab is a well-known supporter of golf, with a long history of involvement from grassroots to professional levels. The company is the title sponsor of the PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge and the PGA Tour Champions' Charles Schwab Cup, aligning itself with the sport's core values of discipline, integrity, and performance. This new commitment to the JIGC builds on that legacy, aiming to cultivate the next generation of golfing talent in Asia-Pacific.

A Launchpad for Future Champions

The JIGC is a cornerstone of the region's junior golf calendar, sanctioned by the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) and recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). The championship is played over 54 holes in a stroke-play format, with divisions for boys and girls across multiple under-19 age groups.

Over its three-decade history, the tournament has served as a launchpad for numerous accomplished players. Notable alumni include former World No. 1 and five-time LPGA major champion Yani Tseng, PGA Tour regular C.T. Pan, and Asian Tour professional Miguel Luis Tabuena. Their success highlights the tournament's critical role in shaping world-class talent.

The event will be played on the revered Bukit Course, a layout with over a century of heritage. Known for its challenging terrain and majestic trees, the course provides an authentic and prestigious setting for the junior competitors.

Endorsements From Leadership

"JIGC has become a cornerstone event for junior golf in the region," said Mr. How Seen Yong, Club Captain of SICC. "With the generous backing of Charles Schwab, we are proud to continue shaping a platform where young golfers can grow, compete, and thrive."

Mr. Ian Roberts, General Manager of SICC, echoed this sentiment. "This partnership underscores SICC's commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers," he said. "Together, we are creating opportunities that will inspire, empower, and shape the champions of tomorrow."

Mr. Greg Baker, Managing Director (APAC), Charles Schwab SG Pte. Ltd., expressed his company's enthusiasm for the partnership. "We are delighted to support the SICC Junior Invitational Golf Championship," he said. "At Charles Schwab, we believe in investing in potential. This event reflects our global commitment to the sport—from rising stars to seasoned professionals."
