The Ace Junior Golf League (AJGL) successfully hosted its first-ever World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) Championship at the Rumanza Golf Club, a world-class Nick Faldo Signature course. The event was dedicated to and named after Pakistan’s legendary golfer, Mr. Taimur Hassan, celebrating his unmatched career and lasting legacy.
The championship, a visionary initiative by Dr. Asma Afzal Shami, aims to motivate junior golfers and establish a crucial pathway for Pakistan’s international golf recognition. Dr. Shami emphasized that AJGL, which supports nearly 360 juniors nationwide, is "a national cause," urging children to "get off the screens and go onto the greens."
Key Highlights:
Mr. Taimur Hassan, who holds a record 16 National Amateur titles and is the only Pakistani golfer to receive the President’s Pride of Performance Award (1993), expressed deep appreciation, noting that WAGR tournaments are crucial for shaping the competitive temperament of junior players.
The all-ladies management team of AJGL was commended for setting a new benchmark for junior golf in Pakistan. The Rumanza Golf Club pledged continued support, awarding free memberships to both the boys' and girls' champions.
