Uzbekistan’s tourism landscape is poised for a major luxury upgrade following a high-level meeting between Ambassador Karomiddin Gadoev and Fio Fahmi, Executive Director of the Malaysian firm Spora Global Sdn Bhd.
The Malaysian hospitality giant has submitted a formal investment proposal to develop a sprawling, international-standard golf resort complex in the Tashkent region. The project aims to transform the area into a premier destination for sports and leisure, catering to both local enthusiasts and high-end international travelers.
According to Fahmi, the proposed complex isn't just about the fairways. The "world-class" vision includes a comprehensive ecosystem of luxury and recreation designed to operate across all seasons:
The project is slated to be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Investors have proposed forming a joint venture with the khokimiyat (administration) of the Tashkent region to streamline construction and management.
This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to diversify its tourism sector beyond historical sites, positioning the Tashkent region as a hub for sports and ecological tourism.
The momentum is moving quickly. Fahmi confirmed that a delegation of Spora Global management and specialists will arrive in Uzbekistan in the coming days. This visit will focus on:
Founded in 2012, Spora Global is a seasoned player in the global resort industry. With a portfolio spanning Singapore, Australia, Vietnam, Indonesia, New Zealand, and Scotland, the company brings extensive experience in the design, construction, and renovation of world-renowned golf clubs and luxury resorts.
