
This year marks the 11th edition of the Golf & Turf summit, taking place at the Oxford Golf Resort, Pune and it has attracted over 200 delegates and more than 40 international speakers to participate in workshops and discussions.
The summit emphasizes how prepared the Golf & Turf industry is to tackle future challenges and embrace new innovations.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of India, Suman Billa stressed golf's crucial role in fostering sustainable tourism growth, noting that India’s ongoing economic development is positively impacting both tourism and golf. He predicted an increase in golf courses and golf-centric tourism, emphasizing the need to diversify tourism offerings to include golf, which attracts high-value visitors who contribute significantly to the economy.
The summit kicked off with a thought-provoking address from GIA President Anirudha Seolekar and a lively Q&A session featuring prominent golf course owners and real estate developers who explored the complexities of the golf industry in their field. Experts like Andrew Harvey Johnston from Sentosa Golf Club and Clinton Southern from Troon International shared insights on trends in golf course design, the importance of sustainability, and effective communication within the industry.
Attendees participated in various sessions covering strategic management of golf course operations, enhancing member experiences through innovative amenities, and building partnerships between tour operators, golf courses, and hospitality providers. There were also discussions on key topics related to golf course maintenance and operations.
A significant announcement during the summit was the strategic partnership between the GIA and the Club Management Association of America (CMAA). This collaboration, announced in front of GIA Vice President Anit Mehrotra, CMAA Professor Bruce Williams, GIA President Seolekar, and Brad Revill from BRT Agronomy, aims to advance the golf industry in the region.
