Aramco Korea Championship Blends World-Class Golf with Strong Community Focus

6 June, 2025

The Aramco Korea Championship, the second event in the new PIF Global Series on the Ladies European Tour (LET), was held last week at New Korea Country Club. While Hyo Joo Kim thrilled fans by defending her title on home soil, the tournament also delivered a lasting impact through a range of meaningful charity and community programs.

Organized by Golf Saudi, the Aramco Korea Championship is part of a broader mission by the PIF Global Series to grow the game of golf while giving back to local communities. Throughout the week, 594 people participated in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, and five local charities received support through partnerships and donations.

Golf Meets Giving Back

This year’s event went beyond sport, with initiatives designed to include and uplift underrepresented and underserved groups. From young students to multicultural families and charitable organizations, the tournament offered access, inspiration, and real support.

“Hosting a world-class golf event gives us the chance to engage with local communities in ways that can create long-term impact,” said a spokesperson from Golf Saudi. “It’s about making golf more inclusive and showing how the sport can be a force for good.”

Supporting the Next Generation: First Tee Korea

A major focus was placed on youth development through a partnership with First Tee Korea, a program that uses golf to teach life skills and values. A total of 362 children and teenagers took part in six weeks of clinics held before, during, and after the tournament at venues such as New Korea Country Club, South Springs Country Club, Kakao VX Pangyo, and Jack Nicklaus Golf Club.

Major champion Nayeon Choi led the opening session, with trained coaches guiding the rest of the program. Participants also received behind-the-scenes access to the tournament, met LET players for autograph sessions, and were given tickets, food and beverage vouchers, and gift items.

To further support the initiative, the tournament donated 1,214 Titleist range balls and contributed 20% of all ticket revenue to First Tee Korea, helping ensure the program’s sustainability.

Charities That Made a Difference

The Aramco Korea Championship also partnered with four other organizations to offer special experiences and show appreciation for their ongoing contributions to society.

Suhmoon Girls’ Middle School

Founded in 1978, Suhmoon Girls’ Middle School is known for producing top golf talent and is one of the leading schools in South Korea’s junior golf scene. A group of students and their parents were invited on the final day of the event, where they took part in a golf lesson and Q&A with LET team captain Sara Kouskova. Each attendee received free tickets, caps, and meal vouchers. For many of the girls, it was an inspiring chance to see elite women’s golf up close.

Goyang Multicultural Family Support Centre

The Goyang Multicultural Family Support Centre, run by the Happy World Welfare Foundation, helps immigrant families adjust to life in Korea. Fifty children and parents from multicultural households were welcomed to the event, receiving tickets, caps, food vouchers, and a day full of entertainment and inclusion.

The goal was to give families from diverse backgrounds a memorable experience while using golf as a tool to bring communities together.

Korea Food for the Hungry International

Fifteen representatives from Korea Food for the Hungry International, a non-profit dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger, were invited to attend the championship as guests of honor. In addition to free access, they received meals and branded tournament gifts. The gesture was a thank-you for their important work across Korean society, supporting vulnerable people in need.

Make-A-Wish Korea

On the final day of the event, the tournament partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation Korea to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience to a young child battling a critical illness. The child and their family were treated to a VIP day at the event, including tickets, a signed gift bag, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with LET players — including fan favorite Hyo Joo Kim.

It was a heartwarming moment that demonstrated how sport can offer comfort and joy even during difficult times.

A Broader Vision for Golf

The Aramco Korea Championship is part of the five-stop PIF Global Series, a new international initiative backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and organized by Golf Saudi. In addition to promoting elite women’s golf, the series focuses on social responsibility and growing the game at the grassroots level in every host country.

Golf Saudi also runs year-round programs like GoGolf, aimed at increasing participation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by making the sport more accessible to youth, women, and beginners.

As the PIF Global Series continues across 2025, the Aramco Korea Championship sets a clear example of how golf can entertain fans, support communities, and inspire the next generation — all at once.
