DP World Tour and Dubai Creek Resort Partner for Environmental Clean-Up

13 January, 2026

In a display of teamwork ahead of one of the region’s most anticipated sporting events, staff from the DP World Tour and Dubai Creek Resort swapped golf clubs for bin bags last week to spearhead a major environmental clean-up of the iconic Dubai Creek.

The initiative, held in support of the global "Clean Up Our World" movement, saw volunteers from the DP World Tour’s Middle East office join forces with resort colleagues to patrol the shoreline between the Floating Bridge and Garhoud Bridge.

The timing of the clean-up is no coincidence. This week, Dubai Creek Resort will take center stage as it hosts the second edition of the Dubai Invitational. The tournament features a world-class field, including defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, world number one Rory McIlroy, and major champions Shane Lowry and Francesco Molinari.

“With the eyes of the golfing world turning to Dubai this week, we wanted to ensure the venue’s natural surroundings reflect the world-class standards of the golf on display,” said a representative of the initiative.

Beyond aesthetic preparation for the cameras and crowds, the effort is a core component of the DP World Tour’s “Golf for Good” strategy. The program is designed to drive environmental and social sustainability, ensuring that the Tour’s presence leaves a lasting, positive legacy on the communities and ecosystems it visits.

The quarterly clean-up has become a staple for the Dubai Creek Resort, but the collaboration with the DP World Tour adds significant weight to the mission of preserving the waterway’s natural beauty. By transforming the sections of the creek ahead of the first tee-off, the volunteers have ensured that the tournament’s environmental footprint is as light as possible.
