Gan Secures Second Term as President of Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines

12 August, 2025

Manila, Philippines — Oliver Gan will remain at the helm of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP) for another three years following his re-election during the organization’s August 8 general assembly at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Gan, who first took the presidency in 2022, said the renewed mandate was both an honor and a challenge to continue driving junior golf development across the country.

“This fresh mandate is not just a vote of confidence — it is a call to keep pushing, to keep working, and to keep dreaming for the future of our young golfers,” he told members in his acceptance speech.

First-Term Highlights

Over the past three years, Gan’s leadership saw:

  • Expanded grassroots programs in provinces nationwide.
  • Increased participation in international events, with Filipino juniors securing multiple championship titles.
  • Nationwide tournament growth and stronger partnerships with golf clubs, sponsors, and allied organizations.
  • Scholarship support for around 100 juniors, many of them children of caddies.
  • Regional cooperation, including reciprocal agreements with junior golf associations in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Australia.

Gan also introduced a more efficient tournament registration system and structured national rankings to align with international best practices.

Looking Ahead

Gan stressed that his second term will focus on bringing golf to more communities, developing not just technical skill but also sportsmanship, and inspiring the next generation to embrace the game.

“Every putt you sink, every shot you take, and every lesson you learn on the course is part of a bigger journey,” he told junior golfers. “We are here to make sure that journey is supported, celebrated, and filled with possibilities.”

New Board in Place

Alongside Gan’s re-election, the JGFP filled its 15-member board of directors. The board will soon elect officers, with former PBA head coach Ariel Vanguardia expected to remain as secretary-general, and 2022 chairman Tommy Manotoc named chairman emeritus.

Newly elected directors include former PBA player Jeff Chan, Aristotle Joseph Adiviso, Kevin Timothy San Agustin, Isonn Anthony Angheng, Mark Dy, Baltaire Balangauan, Mariel Dizon-Macasaet, Charlie Go, Aurelio Gomez, Cristina Lim-Flores, Lue Reine Lumanog-De Guzman, Gideon Namocatcat, Ronald Robinson Robins, and Ely Saludar.

Gan closed with a rallying message:

“Here’s to another chapter of growth, unity, and passion for the game we love. Let’s keep moving forward — together.”
