The Hong Kong Golf Club looks forward to another exciting milestone: the 15th China National Games. For the first time, Hong Kong will be hosting this major sporting event, which is set to take place from November 9-21, 2025. The club will host both the men’s and women’s golf tournaments, with events held across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
Teams from Hong Kong China are expected to make a strong showing at this event, which will feature athletes from various provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and special administrative regions. “It’s a great honor for us all and shows just how far golf has come in Hong Kong,” said Danny Lai, the CEO of the Golf Association of Hong Kong, China (GAHKC).
Last year at the Asian Games, HKGC Club Ambassador Taichi Kho made history by winning an individual gold medal whilst teaming up with Matthew Cheung, Jason Hak, and Terrence Ng to snag the team bronze for Hong Kong. Highlighting how Hong Kong golfers are now competing at the highest levels.
Hong Kong Golf Club captain Andy Kwok Wing-leung shared his confidence that they’re ready to host the National Games golf event at the Fanling Golf Course. His comments came right after the successful LINK Hong Kong Open 2024, which served as a great warm-up for the upcoming games.
The National Games Coordination Office and the Chinese Golf Association have thoroughly checked out the club’s facilities, including crowd management, stadium design, and security measures. According to Kwok, the feedback from officials has been overwhelmingly positive, confirming that the club is more than capable of handling such a significant event.
With a solid track record of hosting major tournaments like the Hong Kong Open and LIVGolf, the club is well-prepared to meet the highest standards for the National Games. Kwok also noted a rise in international visitors at this year’s Open and sees even more potential for attracting tourists.
In a fun twist during the competition, the club named each of the 18 holes after different districts of Hong Kong, like Tai Po and North District, setting up informational boards and QR codes to showcase local attractions and encouraging visitors to explore the unique cultural offerings Hong Kong has to offer.
