The Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) officially launched today, heralding a new era for professional golf in India. The league, a first of its kind, will feature both men and women competing on the same platform in a format designed to promote inclusive excellence and athlete empowerment.

The inaugural IGPL Tour will commence on September 10 in Chandigarh. Indian cricket legend and IGPL Co-Founder Yuvraj Singh officially launched the tour at a press conference in New Delhi. The event was attended by key figures, including IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy, Asian Tour Commissioner/CEO Cho Minn Thant, and General Secretary of the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI) Champika Sayal.

The IGPL is committed to nurturing grassroots talent and providing a sustainable pathway for young Indian golfers. Yuvraj Singh, a co-founder of the league, highlighted its goal of providing a format where young players do not have to worry about financial constraints. The league will also partner with schools and universities to develop interest and talent in the game.

The IGPL Tour will feature a lineup of 10 tournaments played across cities over the next four months, with a total prize purse of ₹1.5 crores for the inaugural Invitational event in Chandigarh. The tour will also include a joint-sanctioned event with the Asian Tour in November at Kensville Golf & Country Club, allowing IGPL players to compete alongside top Asian players.

The league's format is designed to be a game-changer for the sport in India, with its core mission of promoting inclusivity and making golf more accessible to a wider audience. The IGPL will not be confined to the traditional rules of the sport, and will include a team-based format that brings together men, women, professionals, and elite amateurs.
