Job Description

Job Summary

The Membership, Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the Club’s membership (40%) and marketing & communications (60%) functions. The role drives membership growth and retention, develops and implements marketing strategies, enhances the Club’s brand, and ensures effective communication with members and stakeholders while leading the Membership and Marketing & Communications teams. The role also has ownership of the Club’s primary revenue-generating function through relevant KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Management

  • Lead and oversee all membership administration processes, ensuring compliance with the Club’s Constitution, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit new members and improve member retention and engagement.
  • Review and approve membership-related documentation prior to submission for Management and Membership Sub-Committee approval.
  • Oversee the processing of new memberships, membership transfers, resignations, deceased members, senior member status, corporate memberships, and term memberships.
  • Ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity of all membership records and databases.
  • Monitor membership statistics and prepare periodic reports, analysis, and recommendations for Management and the Membership Sub-Committee.
  • Plan and oversee membership interviews, orientation sessions, Introduction Nights, and member engagement initiatives.
  • Address and resolve member enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly that only pertaining to matters directly relating to membership.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and execute annual marketing and communication strategies to enhance the Club’s brand awareness and reputation.
  • Plan and implement marketing campaigns to promote membership, golf activities, dining outlets, events, and Club facilities.
  • Ownership of the Club’s website and MyKgns, social media platforms, email marketing, mobile applications, and other communication channels.
  • Ensure all marketing and communication materials are aligned with the Club’s branding guidelines.
  • Develop and manage content creation strategy, including newsletters, press releases, promotional materials, photography, videography, and digital content.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media, corporate partners, sponsors, external agencies and Management Committee and sub-committees as may be necessary.
  • Monitor and report on marketing performance, digital analytics, and industry trends to recommend continuous improvements.

Events & Member Engagement

  • Work closely with Golf Operations, Food & Beverage, Sports & Recreation, and other departments to promote tournaments, social events, and Club activities.
  • Lead promotional campaigns for major Club events and membership drives.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance member experience, satisfaction, and loyalty.

Leadership & Administration

  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Membership Executive and Marketing & Communications personnel.
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and performance standards.
  • Prepare and manage the department’s annual budget and monitor expenditure.
  • Prepare monthly management reports on membership performance, marketing activities, communications, and departmental achievements.
  • Ensure compliance with Club policies, governance requirements, and relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with internal departments, committees, external vendors, consultants, and government authorities where required.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Management from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant working experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Experience in the golf club, country club, hospitality, leisure, or service industry will be an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of membership administration, customer relationship management, branding, digital marketing, and corporate communications.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, digital marketing platforms, multimedia design software and also other software used by the Club i.e QiSoft
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and project management abilities.
  • Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work weekends, public holidays, and extended hours when required for Club events and activities.
