KLGCC Appoints Two-Time Olympian Kelly Tan as Golf Ambassador

2 April, 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) has officially appointed Malaysian professional golfer Kelly Tan as its newest Golf Ambassador, a move aimed at bolstering the club’s mission to nurture emerging talent and promote sporting excellence.

Tan, a two-time Olympian and one of Malaysia’s most successful golfers, joins an elite group of ambassadors at the premier club. The partnership highlights KLGCC’s ongoing efforts to provide world-class facilities and development opportunities for the next generation of Malaysian golfers.

A Homecoming for a National Star

For Tan, the appointment is a full-circle moment. Her history with KLGCC began as a 16-year-old member of the national team, and the club served as the launchpad for her international career.

"I started playing here when I was part of the national team at the age of 16," Tan said. "One of my fondest memories was being invited to play in the 2010 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia at KLGCC when I was just 17. After that event, Yayasan Sime Darby awarded me a Star Scholarship... That opportunity changed my life and set me on the path to becoming an LPGA Tour professional golfer."

A Proven Track Record

Tan brings a distinguished resume to the role, including:

  • Three professional victories: Two on the Malaysian PGM Tour and one on the Epson Tour.
  • Major Milestone: The best finish by a Malaysian in a Major championship (T13 at the 2020 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship).
  • Olympic Spirit: Representing Malaysia at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
  • LPGA Success: Achieving four top-10 and 19 top-25 finishes across her career.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Adam Calver, General Manager of KLGCC, emphasized that Tan’s international experience makes her an ideal figurehead for the club’s development programs.

"Kelly’s journey and achievements on the international stage make her an exceptional role model for young golfers," Calver said. "Her long-standing connection with the club and her passion for representing Malaysia align perfectly with KLGCC’s commitment to developing talent."

Tan expressed her desire to use the platform to give back to the community that supported her early years.

"My aspiration is to perform consistently at the highest level of professional golf while representing Malaysia with excellence and integrity," Tan added. "Beyond competitive results, I hope to inspire the next generation, contribute to the growth of high-performance golf development, and give back to the community that shaped me."

The partnership ensures that Tan will continue to carry the KLGCC brand on the global stage, representing what Calver described as "the very best of Malaysian golf."
