The Korea Public Golf Course Association (KPGCA) has concluded its 2026 Workshop, a two-day executive retreat focused on future-proofing the industry against technological shifts and environmental challenges.

The event, held from January 26 to 27 at the Gunsan Golf & Resort in North Jeolla Province, brought together more than 70 executives and employees from public golf courses across the nation. Under the theme "The Age of Change, the Future of Public Golf Courses Prepared Together," the workshop served as a strategic forum to address the rapid evolution of the golf industry.

Addressing Modern Challenges

The workshop's curriculum was designed to tackle four primary areas of concern for modern golf course management:

• Climate Adaptation: Developing operational strategies to mitigate the impact of rapidly changing weather patterns on course maintenance and playability.
• AI Integration: Exploring practical ways to implement artificial intelligence technology into daily operations to enhance efficiency.
• Generational Communication: Strengthening internal dialogue among staff members to bridge generational gaps in the workplace.
• Executive Leadership: Fostering high-level management skills to ensure long-term organizational stability.

The program featured specialized lectures from academic and industry experts, including Professor Heo Tae-kyun of Korea University and Lee In-gyun, President of Dream E&D, who shared insights on eco-friendly management and psychological leadership.

A Commitment to Sustainable Growth

President Woo Jungseok, who was inaugurated as the 8th chairman of the association last year, emphasized that these annual gatherings are essential for maintaining the competitive edge of public facilities.

"The association holds this workshop annually to strengthen the capabilities, leadership, and job skills of public golf course executives and employees," President Woo stated. "We will enhance various education and support initiatives to ensure the sustainable development of public golf courses."

The KPGCA continues to be a vocal advocate for the industry, recently pushing for tax reforms and social contribution activities, including a reported 2.057 billion won donation to local communities in 2025.
