Absolute Golf Services (AGS) has announced the appointment of industry veteran Simon Mees as its new General Manager. Mees, a Scotsman with three decades of international experience, returns to the AGS fold to support the management of elite clubs across Asia and drive the company’s ambitious growth strategy.
Hailing from Scotland, Mees’s professional journey spans thirty years across three continents. His extensive background includes leadership roles at prestigious destinations in Scotland, the Middle East, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Before this corporate appointment, Mees most recently served as the General Manager of Ba Na Hills Golf Club in Vietnam and Pineapple Valley Golf Club in Thailand. His tenure at Pineapple Valley provided him with direct experience working alongside AGS, equipping him with a deep understanding of the company's operational standards and the commercial needs of developers in Asia's rapidly evolving leisure markets.
In his new capacity, Mees will act as a bridge between AGS leadership, property owners, and on-ground management teams. His primary focus will be:
"Simon combines world-class golf operations expertise with strong commercial acumen," noted James Shippey, Managing Director of Absolute Golf Services. "He will play an important role as we continue to strengthen performance across our portfolio and expand our footprint in Asia".
For Mees, the appointment marks a return to a familiar culture of excellence. Having seen the value AGS brings to owners during his time at Pineapple Valley, he expressed pride in joining the corporate leadership team during a pivotal growth phase for the company.
"I look forward to working closely with the clubs within our management portfolio to deliver five-star service standards consistently," Mees said, "while also supporting AGS in further developing the diversity and strength of their portfolio".
