Golfers in Southeast Asia have a dramatic new destination to explore with the official completion of the Dhoho Surya Golf Course. Nestled in the foothills of the Gunung Liman Mountains, the project marks a successful collaboration between architects Curley-Wagner Golf Design and the construction management specialists at Flagstick.
The project’s completion is a significant feat of engineering, given that the site endured over 4.2 meters of rain during a single 12-month construction window. To combat the tropical deluge, Flagstick implemented a massive sub-drainage operation.
"We always carefully select and recommend the best solutions for our clients," said Martin Moore, Flagstick Founder and President. "The course drains very well and playing conditions are proving to be exceptional as a result."

The course routing leverages the rugged Indonesian terrain to create a visually arresting and strategic experience. Key highlights of the design include:
Gavin Reid, Vice President and Partner at Flagstick, noted the difficulty of the build: "The project presented many challenges from its rocky terrain with quite extreme elevation changes requiring careful construction to preserve and enhance natural features wherever possible."
To ensure a high-quality surface in a high-moisture environment, Sports Turf Solutions (STS) provided specialized Zoysia grasses. The fairways feature Zeon Zoysia, known for providing "firm and fast" conditions, while the undulating greens have been planted with Primo Zoysia.
The result is a course that offers wide, forgiving fairways paired with complex green complexes, providing a fair yet firm test for golfers of all skill levels.
