Plover Cove Golf Club (PCGC), the landmark golf development rising from the restored Shuen Wan landfill in Tai Po, has reached a major construction milestone with work successfully underway on a 1.5-kilometre retaining wall for its future 18-hole championship course.

The reinforced fill slope, averaging six to eight metres in height, is a key element of the par-71 layout’s infrastructure. It enables course shaping across uneven terrain, supports advanced drainage, and helps meet strict environmental standards.

Recent progress includes ground levelling, placement of select fill materials, installation of drainage filter layers, and erosion control measures such as hessian bag slope forming — all part of a multi-stage construction plan that balances engineering with sustainability.

“This is a significant milestone in the delivery of a transformative project,” said Dean Nelson, General Manager at PCGC. “We are creating something truly world-class, while staying true to our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Set for completion in 2027, the $4.5 billion HKD project is being developed in collaboration with Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design, Turfgrass®, and Flagstick Golf, and is expected to bring more than 350 jobs and a new benchmark for golf and leisure in Hong Kong.
