PSC Launches “Fairway to the Future” Grassroots Golf Program

8 May, 2026

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in partnership with the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP), has introduced the “Fairway to the Future” program — a major nationwide initiative aimed at making golf accessible to young Filipinos from all socioeconomic backgrounds. The program seeks to break down traditional barriers that have long limited the sport to private clubs and elite circles.

Program Launch and Objectives
The initiative will be formally launched on May 18, 2026, at Club Intramuros Golf Course in Manila. It aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen grassroots sports development across the country.

“Fairway to the Future” targets public school students, children of caddies, and other underserved youth, providing them structured training opportunities on quality golf facilities under professional coaching.

Key Features

  • Nationwide Access: Up to 20 designated golf courses across the Philippines will be made available as training venues.
  • Training Schedule: Junior golfers aged 18 and below can train daily from afternoon until twilight. Driving ranges will be accessible throughout the day.
  • Professional Coaching: All sessions will be supervised by NGAP-accredited coaches, with coach education supported by The R&A’s professional training systems.
  • Inclusive Model: The program emphasizes standardized, high-quality instruction regardless of a player’s financial background.

Broader Goals
Beyond sports development, the program aims to serve as a tool for socio-economic empowerment. By widening participation, it seeks to:

  • Discover hidden talent from all regions of the country.
  • Build a stronger talent pipeline for future international competitions.
  • Create clear pathways toward Olympic representation and other elite-level events.

PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio highlighted that golf should no longer be confined to private clubs and wealthy communities. NGAP President Al Panlilio described the initiative as a pioneering model in inclusive golf development
