As part of their exciting development plans, the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) is set to boost Bahrain's reputation as a top destination for sports tourism by establishing a world-class golf course in Raffa.
The project agreement was signed recently, with Mr. Yusuf Osama Buheji, CEO of REHC, and Mr. Yousif Bucheeri, CEO of Bareeq Al Retaj Real Estate Company, in attendance. They were joined by Spanish golf star Sergio Garcia, who will design the course and act as its brand ambassador. This agreement lays the groundwork for creating an incredible golf course that fits seamlessly into the Club's overall development plan.
Mr. Buheji highlighted the golf course project as a key initiative for the REHC's High Committee, led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The aim is to diversify development projects that not only enhance the Club but also support the sports and tourism sectors, attracting investments to help drive Bahrain's economic growth.
Mr. Bucheeri expressed pride in Bareeq Al Retaj's role in bringing this major sports facility to life, which will complement the REHC's success in hosting international horse racing events. He noted that the new golf course will be one of Bahrain's largest, featuring 18 holes and built to the latest international standards.
Sergio Garcia recently visited Bahrain to discuss the course's design and finalize technical details while exploring ways to boost media and promotional efforts for the project. As a prominent figure in golf, with an impressive career since 1999 and 36 international titles under his belt—including the 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament—Garcia’s involvement adds significant prestige to the initiative.
