Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) has launched an exciting corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at introducing the game of golf to young students in its neighborhood, reinforcing the club’s long-standing commitment to community projects.

The proposal, championed by TMCC’s Deputy Chairman Ashok Kumar, was met with enthusiastic approval from the General Committee (GC) and club management, who view the sport as a powerful vehicle for community bonding and youth development.

"The GC and management believe that golf can be a powerful force for fostering community bonding, strengthening relationships, and positively impacting the growth and development of the younger generation," stated a club spokesperson.

Leveraging Elite Coaching Talent

A significant advantage for the program is TMCC’s impressive roster of top-level golf instructors. The club is home to a cadre of highly accomplished professionals, including national representatives Goh Kun Yang, Marc Ong, Jerome Ng, Gregory Foo, and George Foo. They are complemented by former national age-group golfer Daren Lim, whose two-decade influence has been instrumental in mentoring aspiring young members.

By tapping into this massive advantage, the club aims to provide unparalleled instruction through a structured program for primary school pupils.

Partnership with Angsana Primary

With the blessings of the Ministry of Education (MOE), TMCC has collaborated with Angsana Primary School, located at Tampines Street 61, as the beneficiary for this inaugural initiative.

This strategic partnership is set to serve a three-fold benefit:

  • Nurturing young golfing talent.
  • Making a meaningful contribution to the local community.
  • Aligning with Singapore sports’ Vision 2030 plan, which emphasizes supporting talent development in sports.

The initiative was first formally discussed during a GC meeting earlier this year as a core component of the club’s overarching Grow Golf mandate, solidifying TMCC's role as a proactive community partner in Singapore’s sports landscape.
