Warren Golf & Country Club Temporarily Closes Three F&B Outlets, Resulting in 29 Staff Retrenchments

17 November, 2025

Warren Golf & Country Club in Singapore has temporarily suspended operations at three of its food and beverage (F&B) outlets—Golfers’ Terrace, Water Hazard, and Starter Hut—effective from November 12, with no confirmed reopening date. This development follows an earlier announcement on October 28 about plans to outsource these outlets to Jun Hang F&B, a specialist operator, in an effort to address ongoing financial losses.

The club had been managing these eateries directly since 2017, after taking over from JR Group, but reported annual operating deficits, including a $337,000 loss in 2024 alone. The outsourcing arrangement, awarded to Jun Hang F&B on October 1 following a detailed evaluation, was expected to generate approximately $15,000 in monthly rental income and improve the club's financial position. The club committed to collaborating with the new operator to minimize disruptions for members and guests during the transition.

However, Jun Hang F&B encountered manpower challenges and was unable to commence operations on the scheduled November 12 start date. A notice issued on November 9 indicated that the outsourcing deal would not proceed as planned.

On October 29, termination letters were issued to 28 F&B staff members and one employee from the purchasing department, affecting individuals with service tenures exceeding two decades in some cases.

A reminder notice on November 10 advised members that Golfers’ Terrace and Water Hazard would close early at 7pm on November 11 and remain shut until further notice. The total number of retrenched staff across the three outlets, including department heads, front-line, and kitchen personnel, stands at 29.

The club's president, Bobby Wee, stated on November 13 that the closures were not abrupt, with F&B staff informed three months in advance about the reasons and process. Full retrenchment benefits are being finalized. Discussions are underway with several reputable operators to manage the outlets, and an estimated reopening timeline will be shared soon.

The golf course, main country club facilities, and two other eateries—Yan Palace and Italian Patio—continue to operate normally. Jun Hang F&B currently manages Golfers’ Terrace outlets at Orchid Country Club and National Service Resort and Country Club in Changi and Kranji.

In a broader context, the Ministry of Law announced on July 7 that leases for several sites, including Warren Golf & Country Club, will not be renewed due to future development needs. The club's lease expires in October 2030, and the site is zoned for residential use under the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Draft Master Plan 2025.
