The Yuwon Golf Foundation has officially launched the Hope Tree Scholarship Program, a new initiative designed to support promising young golfers. The foundation announced the program on September 11, with plans to provide significant financial assistance to rising stars in the sport.
The scholarship will award approximately 12 million won annually to young golfers who have won at least four nationwide tournaments in a single year. The first recipient of the scholarship is 13-year-old Kim Seoah, a rising star who secured eight national victories last year. Her wins included the 12th Golfzon MBN Dream Tree Championship and the 16th Pak Se Ri National Elementary School Tournament. Kim is also a preliminary member of the Korea Golf Association Junior National Team.
"Thank you for believing in my potential and supporting me," Kim Seoah said. "I will continue to do my best so that I can become a golfer like my role model, Lydia Ko of New Zealand."
Kim has already been making a name for herself. She was the runner-up at the 9th Bear Creek Amateur Golf Championship in July and is set to compete as an invited player in the 25th Hite Jinro Championship, a prestigious Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour event, later this month.
According to a statement from the foundation, the Hope Tree Scholarship is part of a broader commitment to supporting the future of golf. The Yuwon Golf Foundation, in collaboration with Golfzon Holdings, Golfzon, and Golfzon Commerce, will continue its social contribution efforts under the 'Swing Your Dream' program.
Chairman Kim Youngchan of the Yuwon Golf Foundation emphasized the organization's dedication to this cause. "We will spare no effort in providing full support to create a foundation where players with potential can continue to take on new challenges," he stated.
