A new era for Philippine golf is on the horizon as the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and luxury estate developer Hann Reserve explore a groundbreaking alliance aimed at transforming grassroots athletes into world-class contenders.
The proposed collaboration seeks to bridge the gap between local talent and international standards by integrating elite sports training with academic excellence.
At the heart of this initiative is a PGA-certified academy planned within the 450-hectare Hann Reserve eco-luxury estate. Hann Reserve General Manager Tim Neil outlined a vision that goes beyond traditional coaching, focusing instead on a holistic ecosystem.
“One of the key missions of the PGA is grassroots growth,” Neil stated. “Whether through our academy or community engagement, we’re committed to building golf from the ground up. We’re not here to replicate; we’re here to reinvent.”
The academy is designed to provide young golfers with:
PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio expressed strong support for the partnership, noting the strategic advantage of Hann Reserve’s proximity to the National Academy of Sports (NAS), located just two kilometers away within New Clark City.
As the Vice Chairman of NAS, Gregorio sees golf as the natural next step for the academy’s curriculum. "We have eight sports already, and archery will be added soon. Because of Hann Reserve’s program, golf should be next," Gregorio said.
Under the proposed framework, the partnership would create a comprehensive support system for scholars:
Hann Reserve is positioned to become a premier golf destination in Southeast Asia. The development features three championship courses designed by legendary figures in the sport: Nicklaus Design, K.J. Choi, and Sir Nick Faldo. These courses will be complemented by a PGA Performance Center and a PGA Village, serving as hubs for international-standard competition.
Beyond the sport itself, the project serves as a testament to the surging investor confidence in New Clark City—a flagship development of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
With the PSC’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and Hann Reserve’s ambitious infrastructure, the Philippines is carving out a structured pathway for young athletes to dream big and compete on the global stage.
