Saggus Appointed New Course Superintendent at Sentosa Golf Club

10 June, 2026

SINGAPORE (10 June 2026) – Sentosa Golf Club has announced the appointment of Australian agronomy professional Brett Saggus as its new Golf Course Superintendent. Saggus succeeds Senior Golf Course Superintendent Rodney McKeown and will lead operations at one of Asia’s premier championship venues.

Saggus joins Sentosa Golf Club from the BRG Group in Vietnam, where he served as superintendent across multiple properties. He brings extensive expertise in complex agronomy operations, tropical turf management, and elite tournament preparation to his new role.

The appointment comes on the heels of one of the most intensive tournament periods in Sentosa’s history. Over eight weeks, the club successfully hosted the HSBC Women’s World Championship, LIV Golf Singapore, and the Singapore Open. The world’s leading professionals competed across both The Serapong and The Tanjong courses, drawing widespread acclaim for the quality and consistency of the playing surfaces.

Saggus was present at both LIV Golf Singapore and the Singapore Open, working alongside the club's agronomy team to support tournament delivery and gain first-hand insight into Sentosa's operational standards during peak championship conditions.

Sentosa Golf Club operates under a ‘Tournament Ready 365’ philosophy, maintaining championship-standard playing surfaces year-round while balancing a high volume of daily play with a world-class tournament calendar.

"I feel very fortunate to step into this role and follow in the footsteps of Rodney [McKeown], who did an outstanding job and left the operation in exceptional shape," said Saggus. "Sentosa’s operations are already highly refined. My approach is to listen, observe and make improvements where needed, ensuring that any changes are meaningful. What excites me most is the level of innovation here, and I am proud to be part of it."

In his new position, Saggus will work closely with Andy Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy, as Sentosa continues to invest in performance, technology, and innovation. The club currently operates as a Toro Centre of Excellence in Asia and utilizes advanced tools, such as the USGA GS3 Ball, to objectively measure putting surface performance.

"Brett brings exactly the experience and mindset we were looking for," said Johnston. "Overseeing courses across different stages of development, combined with his tournament experience, gives him a breadth of knowledge that will serve Sentosa very well. We are delighted to welcome him to the team."

Additionally, Saggus will play a key role in Sentosa’s Agronomy Superintendent Programme, which develops the next generation of turf professionals through hands-on major tournament experience. This initiative operates alongside the club’s volunteer programme, which is now in its 16th year.
