Following a major redevelopment project that ran from 9 December 2024 to 7 August 2026, the club reopened its 18-hole golf course for play on 8 August 2026. The celebration culminated in an official Grand Opening event, named "The Next Chapter," on 15 August 2026. Delivered right on schedule and within budget, the project marks the club's first full course transformation since 2011.
The ambitious project was carried out while keeping nine holes open for play throughout the construction period, ensuring members could continue playing golf uninterrupted. The redesign was led by renowned golf course architects Kevin Ramsey and David Dale from Golfplan, who focused on reshaping the course into a modern, sustainable, and inclusive layout.
The redeveloped layout introduces major agronomic advancements to Singapore’s golf industry. SCC has become the first golf course in Singapore to install Zoysia Stadium Grass across all its tees and fairways. In total, approximately 168,314 square metres of this high-grade turf was laid across the property.
Zoysia Stadium Grass is the same turf used at the Singapore National Stadium. It was carefully selected for its high durability, rapid recovery, and performance under heavy foot and golf buggy traffic. The grass forms a dense, even playing surface that offers clean ball lies. Crucially for the local climate, Zoysia Stadium Grass requires significantly less irrigation than traditional turf choices, making it ideal for tropical conditions and supporting the club’s long-term sustainability goals.
On the putting surfaces, the club installed approximately 3,426 kilograms of Primo Zoysia Grass. Also featured on the New and Island Courses at Singapore Island Country Club, this fine-bladed turf provides a smooth putting surface and consistent ball roll during play.
To complement the new turf, SCC became the first golf course in Singapore to implement Rain Bird’s latest ICI+ Intelligent Irrigation System. The system allows the club's course maintenance team to control individual sprinkler heads independently. This level of control enables targeted watering, preventing overwatering, reducing overall water consumption, and improving irrigation efficiency across the entire course.
Subsurface drainage was also overhauled. All 38 bunkers across the course were completely reconstructed using the Capillary Concrete and Loksand System. This technology prevents sand washouts and improves drainage resilience during sudden, heavy tropical downpours, allowing the course to recover quickly after heavy rains.
Measuring 6,076 metres from the back Black Tees, the par-72 course features a balanced layout of four par 3s, ten par 4s, and four par 5s. Golfplan designed the layout to improve overall playability for golfers of all skill levels while maintaining a strong strategic challenge.

A standout element of the project is the introduction of permanent, rated Purple Junior Tees for boys and girls aged 16 and below. Unlike temporary forward tee markers often used on golf courses, the Purple Tees are built directly into the official course design. This allows junior golfers to play from an age-appropriate course length and submit official scores for handicap purposes, directly supporting the club’s commitment to junior golf development.
The Grand Opening ceremony on 15 August 2026 brought together club leadership, senior military leaders, project partners, and golf industry stakeholders. Among the distinguished guests present were:
During the event, the club unveiled its Service Adopted Holes initiative. Under this programme, the five Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Services have each adopted two holes across the front and back nine. Commemorative Service Plaques were officially unveiled at the adopted holes on the front nine before guests headed out for an exclusive shotgun-start round.
The club also launched the Donate a Tree Programme in support of NParks' One Million Trees movement and Singapore's vision of becoming a City in Nature. Supported by Target15SG, the initiative directly benefits the SAF Care Fund, which provides financial support to SAF personnel severely disabled during military service.
For SGD $388, members and non-members can sponsor a tree on the course. Each donation includes a tax-exempt contribution and an engraved plaque stating the donor's name, planting date, and tree species. The club aims to plant over 500 trees across the layout, adding to the environmental sustainability of the property.
The grand opening concluded with an evening celebration dinner for the local golfing community and key industry partners. Club Chairman Mr. Adrian Teng delivered an appreciation speech thanking the Golf Course Renovation Steering Committee and the project partners who helped execute the transformation.

Through these partnerships, Sembawang Country Club has successfully delivered a modernized, environmentally sustainable, and play-friendly venue for the future of golf in Singapore.
