The Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) has been named a Winner in Architectural Design - Recreational at the 2025 BLT Built Design Awards for its Bukit Clubhouse project. The development also received an Honorable Mention in Recreational Architecture at the 2025 Architecture MasterPrize.

Project Team and Recognition

The clubhouse was designed by DP Architects, led by Lead Designer Tan Chee Kiang, alongside design team members Zic Chen, Songchai Puksakul, Refano Puspita, Pinson Lim, Joyce Law, and Ye Ganghua.

Additional key project contributors include:

  • Interior Designers: Eco-Id Architects Pte Ltd and Code Design

Design Concept and Nature Integration

The project reimagines the traditional golf clubhouse as a community-focused destination centered on nature, wellness, and family. Situated adjacent to the Lornie Nature Reserve, the facility uses courtyards, layered façades, and integrated landscapes to connect indoor and outdoor spaces.

According to project details, the design and planning of SICC "harnesses nature as its backdrop and expands the definition of ‘sustainability’" in direct response to the natural surroundings of the reserve.

Topography and Ecological Preservation

Site planning utilizes the existing elevational difference between the road and the site to create a new datum for facilities. This layout allowed the architectural scheme to integrate a green deck and parking structure without additional excavation, preserving the site's ecological integrity.

The architectural programming incorporates three key scales of connection to the surrounding environment:

  • Vertical Integration: A central courtyard visually links the three floors, mapping stratified layers of programming to the spatial experience of a rainforest.
  • Microclimate Management: An outdoor green platform features landscaping and water bodies designed to reduce the urban heat island effect.
  • Compact Zoning: Programs are integrated with green open areas to maintain a dialogue between the built environment and nature.

Spatial Flexibility

To accommodate evolving operational demands, the clubhouse incorporates adaptable pavilions. The space can be reconfigured to support a wide range of uses and meet future club requirements.
