Several online reports are showing that Bali National Golf Club has closed its doors permanently, with the last rounds played on 2 May 2025.
Their Google Business account shows this as well.
The facility's website doesn't mention the closure, as well social media pages haven't had any posts since late 2024.
From one of our Golf Industry Asia sources, with the recent change of ownership, supposedly, they may be shutting down the course to reroute some of the course to take advantage of stunning areas for a hotel and other amenities. What this does to the layout will have to be seen.

After a complete redesign by Nelson & Haworth Golf Course Architects, Bali National Golf Club was officially reopened on March 1, 2014. It is now renowned as one of the most challenging golf courses with spectacular views over the majestic backdrop of Gunung Agung and the Indian Ocean. The club is also complemented with premium facilities such as the locker rooms, pro shop, restaurant & terrace, and lounge. In 2014, it has received the prestigious Asia Pacific Golf Group Award for Best Renovated Golf Course in Asia-Pacific 2014, Best Golf Courses 2018 in 206 Countries by Golf Digest USA and Best International Resort – Indonesia 2018 on Editor’s Choice Awards by Golf Digest USA.
In 2015, it was announced that a new six-star luxury resort, part of the Trump Hotel Collection, would be developed at Nirwana Bali, but in May 2017, plans to build a new hotel and associated Trump Tower angered locals before construction had started. It was reported that the Balinese would “demolish” the hotel if the development did not respect local building laws, whereby local legend warns that anyone who builds higher than a coconut tree will anger the gods.

In 2015 Donald Trump licensed his name to the Nirwana Golf Resort in Bali. At the time, the hotel and resort was a 6-star designation and was coined as the business tycoon’s ‘dream project’. However, nearly ten years after the start of the project, the resort as a whole has been left to ruin, but in May 2017, plans to build a new hotel and associated Trump Tower angered locals before construction had started. It was reported that the Balinese would “demolish” the hotel if the development did not respect local building laws, whereby local legend warns that anyone who builds higher than a coconut tree will anger the gods.
While from a business perspective, the resort can be written off as a failed investment, for the local Balinese staff who worked there, the closing of the venture has had a much bigger impact on their lives.
Speaking to the media, a group of the Nirwana Golf Resort ex-staff have shared their stories about the permanent closure of their workplace. The impact on their lives, livelihoods, and the lives of their families is undeniable. As Donald Trump has announced his candidacy for the 2024 US Election, his laid-off staff are still trying to recover a sense of normalcy. The economic losses of the pandemic exacerbated the situation.
