Completion Ceremony Marks Major Milestone for Historic Club

Seoul Hanyang Country Club (Seoul Hanyang CC), recognized as the birthplace of golf in Korea, has completed construction of its new clubhouse and held the official opening ceremony on June 20.

The New Clubhouse Completion Ceremony took place that morning on a stage in front of the new facility in Goyang City. The renovation project was initiated to replace aging infrastructure and elevate service standards for club members.

The event was hosted by club member and actor Choi Soo-jong. It opened with a dynamic drum performance by Nanta Cheongmyeong and a vocal performance by I Maestri.

Key attendees included:

  • Kob Jin Joo, Chairman of Seoul Country Club
  • Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang
  • Myung Jaesung, Member of the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Assembly
  • Oh Cheolgyu, Secretary General of the Korea Golf Association

Board members from the club’s sister club in Taiwan and other international guests also attended the ceremony.
In his commemorative speech, Chairman Kob Jin Joo stated:
"It is deeply moving to declare the completion of our new clubhouse, which will open a new future for our club," adding, "I bow my head in deep respect and gratitude to each and every member who patiently endured the inconveniences of our aging facilities over the long years and helped make this great miracle possible."

Goyang Mayor Lee Donghwan delivered a congratulatory address, stating:
"I hope that Seoul Hanyang CC, the symbol of Korean golf, will continue to uphold its reputation as a landmark of Goyang City."

The club presented a plaque of appreciation to Jung Tae-yong, CEO of EUNMIN S&D, the construction company. Special awards were also given to members and staff who contributed to the club’s development. Member Noh Sangbu received significant attention for recording both a hole-in-one and an eagle in a single round shortly before the clubhouse completion.

The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting, group photographs, and the unveiling of a plaque for the new History Exhibition Hall, which showcases the club’s long heritage. Attendees then toured the renovated clubhouse, noting its successful blend of tradition and modern design.

Founded in 1954, Seoul Hanyang CC has served as the cradle of golf in Korea for over seven decades. The completion of the new clubhouse positions the club to begin its next century of operation with upgraded facilities.
