24 June, 2026

The PGA (GB&I) has announced the appointment of Nicholas Oakley as its next Chief Executive.

Oakley qualified as a PGA Professional in 1999. He brings more than 30 years of international experience in sport, entertainment, and the golf industry. His career includes organisational leadership, operational management, commercial strategy, and advisory services across global sports markets.

Prior to this role, Oakley was Partner for Sport and Entertainment at PwC. He also spent nearly a decade with KPMG Sport, Leisure and Tourism, where he built and led teams providing advice to clients worldwide. His experience further includes more than three years as a senior executive at a Premier League football club, where he also served as a board member of its charitable trust. He has worked at one of the world’s largest commercial sports agencies and contributed to the development of Yas Island in Abu Dhabi as a world-class destination.

Most recently, Oakley has been working with UAE-based Principal Abdulla Al Naboodah across his sports portfolio. In this capacity, he has supported the assessment, development, and execution of strategic initiatives and investment opportunities, with a focus on long-term value creation.

Oakley will become only the third Chief Executive of The PGA since 1991, succeeding Sandy Jones and Robert Maxfield. He will take up the position later this year.
