SJM Macao Open Reaches 1,200 Participants Through Community Golf Initiatives

26 October, 2026

Nearly 1,200 people engaged in community golf activities organized alongside the SJM Macao Open 2026, according to gaming operator SJM Resorts Ltd. The initiative ran as part of outreach efforts tied to the annual international tournament.

SJM Resorts, the Macau gaming subsidiary of Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Ltd, served as title sponsor and co-organiser for the main event. The SJM Macao Open 2026 took place from October 15 to 18 at the Macau Golf & Country Club.

Interactive Fun Days at Anim’Arte Nam Van

The six-day "Community Golf Fun Days" program took place at Anim’Arte Nam Van over the course of October. Designed to introduce golf to residents and visitors across all age groups, the interactive offerings featured putting challenges, swing practice, and chipping activities.

Youth Engagement and Professional Coaching

SJM Resorts also hosted dedicated educational activities for local students to interact with professional athletes and learn about the sport.

Nearly 70 local school students attended two youth programs held directly at the Macau Golf & Country Club on October 15 and 16. These sessions included coaching from professional golfers, including five-time PGA Tour winner Kevin Na, Chinese-mainland player Zhou Yanhan, Hong Kong’s Matthew Cheung, and Thailand’s TK Chantananuwat.

In a separate program, around 90 students from the University of Macau and City University of Macau took part in behind-the-scenes tours of the tournament facilities, gaining direct insight into the operational setup of an international sporting competition.

Wellness Initiatives for Senior Citizens

Outreach activities extended to local senior citizens through a partnership with Caritas Macau. SJM Resorts invited approximately 35 seniors from the Caritas Macau Ian Fai Integrated Senior Citizens Care Centre to the tournament grounds on October 16.

Titled “Walk Like a Champion”, the walking initiative aimed to promote physical activity among older residents while allowing them to experience the professional golf facility firsthand.

Promoting Sports Tourism in Macao

According to SJM Resorts, these community initiatives were designed to encourage active living, broaden sports participation, and support Macau’s ongoing development as an international sports tourism destination.
