KOTA KINABALU, SABAH — The Sabah Golf & Country Club (SGCC) is entering a major new chapter as it gears up to celebrate its 50th Anniversary later this year. To kick off its Golden Jubilee preparations, the club has announced a wave of comprehensive facility enhancements, fresh sporting initiatives, and a historic leadership transition.

At its 49th Annual General Meeting held on 23 May 2026, members officially elected the club's General Committee for the 2026–2028 term. In an unprecedented milestone for SGCC since its founding in 1976, all office bearers and committee members were elected completely unopposed.

The newly appointed leadership team will be guided by President Mr. Ian Yong Wai Ching, Deputy President Datu Khalilurahman Bin Datu Khalil, and Club Captain Mr. Anthony Ho Tze Lung.

Major Upgrades & Facility Expansions

In tandem with the upcoming anniversary celebrations, SGCC is investing heavily in modernizing its infrastructure to maximize member satisfaction:

• The Albatross Room: The club is currently undertaking a comprehensive renovation of its main function venue, which is scheduled to be unveiled during the anniversary celebrations.
• Pickleball Courts: Construction works are well underway for the introduction of brand-new pickleball courts, expected to open to members in the coming months.
• Fitness & Aquatics: Following recent overhauls of the tennis and table tennis facilities—which have already driven up member participation—SGCC has installed new gym equipment. It is also expanding its personal training services and upgrading lifeguard certifications ahead of launching the official SGCC Swimming School.

As one of Sabah's premier private sporting and recreational destinations, the club is aiming to look forward without losing sight of its rich heritage. Reaffirming its core direction, SGCC leadership emphasized a commitment to shifting toward a greener, more vibrant, and sustainable environment for its members across all golf, recreational, and clubhouse operations.
