Ulju County is preparing to launch its first 36-hole park golf facility, the Ulju Park Golf Course, following a 3.1 billion won (approximately $2.2 million) investment. Built on unused railway land in Gosan-ri, Onyang-eup, the course is scheduled for completion this month, with trial operations beginning in October and full opening planned for January 2027.

The project was selected through a public competition aimed at repurposing idle railway property. Although the site lies within a restricted development zone, county officials secured approval from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after presenting survey data that highlighted a shortage of local park golf facilities and strong demand for a 36-hole course. A railway safety review formed part of the approval process.

The location offers convenient access via nearby Namchang Station and proximity to Oegosan Onggi Village. Officials anticipate the course will complement existing tourism draws, including the annual Onggi Festival, helping integrate recreational golf with regional cultural attractions.

Ulsan currently operates seven park golf courses, including facilities in Beomseo and Cheongnyang as well as at Grand Park, along the Taehwa River and at Dongcheon. The new Ulju course will expand capacity and provide a larger-format option for the growing number of park golf players in the region.
