ALEXANDRIA, VA — Jeff Morgan, FASAE, CAE, will retire as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) and The Club Foundation on September 30, 2027. His retirement will conclude a 13-year tenure leading the organization.
Morgan joined CMAA in October 2014. During his tenure, the Association regained a solid financial footing and underwent a rebranding and repositioning process within the industry. Under his leadership, CMAA adjusted its strategic direction to expand member offerings, including educational resources, research initiatives, and updates to The Club Foundation. Morgan guided the National Headquarters team in executing the Association’s mission and vision throughout his leadership.
Reflecting on his upcoming departure and his time with the organization, Morgan stated:
“Serving as President & CEO of CMAA for the past 13 years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated members, volunteer leaders, Chapters, Partners, and professional staff who share a passion for advancing the club management profession. As I prepare to retire, I am grateful for the relationships we've built and the progress we've achieved together. I remain fully committed to supporting a thoughtful leadership transition and ensuring CMAA is well-positioned for continued success in the years ahead.”
The CMAA Board of Directors has initiated the search process for Morgan’s replacement. CMAA Chair Janine Budzius, CCM, CCE, outlined the board's plan for the upcoming leadership transition:
“On behalf of CMAA’s Board of Directors, I would like to thank Jeff for his service to the association. We have already begun the process to engage a national search for his successor with the expectation to hire a new CEO prior to his retirement. We will ensure a deliberate approach, ensuring a smooth leadership transition and continuity for the Association and its operations.”
Prior to joining CMAA in 2014, Morgan served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Investor Relations Institute. His career background also includes senior positions at two other professional associations focused on global derivatives and property & casualty insurance.
