17 August, 2026

SINGAPORE — Senior banking and sports executive Lee Lung Nien has been elected President of the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) following a vote at the organization's Annual General Meeting on Friday.

Lee succeeds Tan Chong Huat, who concludes his four-year tenure leading the national governing body for golf in Singapore.

The newly elected President will serve a four-year term (2026–2030) alongside an updated Executive Board.

Executive Background and Leadership

Lee brings over three decades of international experience in banking, corporate leadership, and sports governance to the position. A 36-year veteran of Citi, he currently serves as the Citi Country Officer for Singapore.

His previous leadership roles within the financial institution include Chairman of Citi Private Bank for South Asia and CEO of Citi Malaysia. When appointed to Citi’s top Singapore post in 2025, Lee became the first Singaporean to hold the role in 50 years.

New President Outlines Vision

Following his election, Lee addressed the association's stakeholders and highlighted his priorities for the sport's development.

“It is a great honour to be entrusted with the leadership of the Singapore Golf Association. I would like to thank the members and stakeholders for their confidence and support.

Singapore golf has made significant progress in recent years, from participation and junior development to high performance and our growing presence on the international stage. There is a strong foundation to build on, and I look forward to working with our clubs, athletes, coaches, volunteers, partners and stakeholders to take golf in Singapore forward.”
