NEW DELHI — The Delhi Golf Club (DGC) has completed a major overhaul of its practice facility, introducing a new two-tier driving range alongside upgraded short game areas, modern amenities, and enhanced lighting infrastructure.
The project aims to provide members and guests with a modern practice environment, with additional tech-driven enhancements planned for the next phase of development.
Two-Tier Steel Structure and Bay Specifications
The central focus of the upgrade is a newly constructed two-tier steel-frame structure housing 28 practice bays. Architectural features and operational details of the new facility include:
- Structure & Bay Features: Designed with architectural fins and equipped with high-powered fans installed at every bay for climate comfort.
- Flooring: German KRAIBURG Relastec rubberized flooring has been installed throughout the structure.
- Hitting Mats: The facility imported Fiberbuilt hitting mats directly from the United States. Featuring realistic fiber thistles, the mats are designed to provide turf-like feedback.
Comprehensive Practice Zones and High-Tech Academy
Beyond the main driving bays, the DGC facility has upgraded its auxiliary practice and instruction zones:
- Short Game Zone: Features a revamped pitching and chipping area alongside a refreshed putting green.
- State-of-the-Art Academy Room: Built with a full shutter system and climate control. The dedicated space is built to accommodate launch monitors, pressure plates, high-speed camera setups, and tracking screens for instruction.
- LED Lighting Infrastructure: A complete overhaul was conducted across the lighting systems, adding new poles and energy-efficient LED lights to illuminate the entire range, pitching area, and putting green for night practice.
Modern Member Amenities and Cafe
The space previously occupied by the old ball dispenser has been repurposed to offer improved visitor amenities, including:
- A reception lounge for ball purchases.
- New men’s and women’s washrooms.
- A modern cafe serving coffee, tea, beverages, and fresh sandwiches.
Upcoming Phase: Interactive Tech and Range Flattening
The club has outlined plans for its next phase of development, which will involve flattening the landing area of the range and converting the venue into a high-tech practice hub:
- Interactive Bay Screens: Individual screens powered by launch monitor systems will be added to every bay. The system will deliver real-time data on swing speed, ball flight, and key metrics, allowing golfers to sync stats directly to their phones or iPads via QR codes.
- Gamification & Virtual Play: The incoming technology will enable members to participate in driving competitions and virtually play world-renowned golf courses directly from their practice bays.
Addressing members and visitors, the development team announced: "It's an exciting new era for our members and guests at Delhi Golf Club—drop by, hit a few buckets, and check out the new range!"
